The Safetyplus concept has been launched with the intent of making both trucks, vans and their drivers safer and thus of contributing to a sustained enhancement in road safety.

 

Safetyplus constitutes a positive step in implementing the avowed intention of the European campaign programme (EU Charta) for road traffic safety, namely to halve the number of road accident deaths in the European Union down to 25,000 per annum by the year 2010.

 

Safetyplus is the active continuation of the measures recommended at the 42nd German Traffic Court Conference and the Transport Minister Conference 2004 to enhance road safety and to lower the "accident risk of small vans".
