Safetyplus Truck

With the safety initiative Safetyplus Truck it is intended to employ ultramodern vehicle technology in order to drastically reduce the number and consequences of truck accidents. Transport companies are to be attracted to the scheme by favourable special equipment packages and attractive insurance conditions.

Under the slogan of "Safety pays" the partners of Allianz, DaimlerChrysler and DEKRA are documenting their commitment to more safety and lower costs in the transport sector. Optimisation of the active and passive vehicle safety can reduce accident figures, lessen the consequences of accidents and heighten transport safety.

More favourable insurance premiums are a welcome relief to fleet operators and raise profitability in the transport sector.

The "Safetyplus Truck" certification - initially for articulated trucks - comes in two categories:

  • "Safetyplus Trucks" receive one star if their basic equipment is supplemented with a driving management system, an adaptive control system and an electronic lane guard system.

  • "Safetyplus Trucks" in the two-star category also have brake assistants, automatic brake, such as, for example, the active brake assist and an optimised driver protection such as a driver airbag with belt tightener.

The fundamentals for both categories is a basic vehicle that has at least longitudinal dynamic regulation (ABS/ASR), electronic brake, front underrun protection, constructive occupant protection in the cabin, optimised mirror system, reversing alarm and spray water protection.
